Health and Safety

Do not underestimate the importance of safety – you have already had one disaster so don’t take any unnecessary risks!

With flood damage in particular it is important to take care of slippery surfaces, electrical hazards, possible structural instability, exposed materials such as smoothedge and environmental contaminants including any hazardous substances that may have been carried in with the flood water and microbial growth that amplifies the longer the area remains untreated.

For this reason it is important that you call us straight away so our qualified flood restoration experts can minimise damage and make your house safe again as soon as possible.
Things You Can Do

If it is safe to do so there are a few things you can do to help minimise damage until your Elite Carpet Cleaning flood restoration technician arrives:
  • If possible, identify the source of the flood and eliminate it
  • Contact your insurance company to lodge a claim, find out what cover you may have and advise that you have an Elite Carpet Cleaning technician on their way

  • If the water has come from a clean source you may remove furniture items from the area, start to remove excess water with a mop or towels, and open windows to encourage ventilation

What You Can Expect

Our technician will start by identifying all affected areas using specialist measurement tools, then removing as much water as possible with their powerful extraction equipment. They may also need to lift carpet, remove underlay and/or apply products to help prevent staining and potentially dangerous microbial growth.

We then use industrial drying equipment to draw the remaining moisture out of the affected materials including your carpet and any affected contents or structure. This drying equipment is left onsite and monitored daily until all affected materials have dried completely.

Once completely dry, we will re-lay any carpet that has been lifted and give it a thorough clean.
Pricing & Payment

The cost of flood restoration depends largely on the extent of the damage, the materials affected and how quickly we can get all affected areas dry.

There are many factors that effect drying time and consequently make it difficult for us to provide you with a quote, but we can give you an indication of daily cost as well as likely time-frame after our technician has assessed the area. We can also keep you informed of cost throughout the process.

However, most flood restoration does end up being an insurance claim so we recommend that you talk with your insurer and if you have a claim accepted and can advise your claim number on completion of the restoration we can often invoice directly to them.

If left untreated, flooding can cause serious damage to your property and your health

Flooding and water damage may occur from many different sources and can vary drastically in scale and severity. However, all water damage, no matter how small, has the potential to risk your health and damage your property.
Water damage can be deceptive as water spreads rapidly through materials resulting in pockets of moisture in areas not visible to the eye. If not treated properly and in a timely manner, this can cause long term damage and problems such as mould, bacteria, staining and structural deterioration.
If the water has come from outside it will carry contaminants such as dirt, oils and bacteria. Even if the flooding was initially from a clean water source, it will quickly deteriorate as prolonged moisture encourages bacteria and mould growth.

Without professional attention, any form of flooding will potentially cause damage to your property and pose health risks to you and your family!

What to Do If You Have Had a Flood

It is essential that any flood is treated promptly by a qualified and suitably experienced technician. If left untreated flood water will spread throughout the materials it comes into contact with and the damp, humid conditions will promote bacterial growth, mould growth, staining and potentially structural damage.

Prompt attendance to any flooding situation by a qualified flood restoration technician is important as they will extract as much water as possible, preventing it from spreading and reducing the amount of secondary damage. They will also be able to treat the flooded carpet and other affected areas to prevent staining and inhibit microbial growth.

As a general rule the sooner a qualified flood restoration technician is able to respond to a flood, the more water they can extract, the less secondary damage, the faster the drying time and the  greater the likelihood of a positive outcome.

For this reason we have technicians on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and we aim to be at your property within 90 minutes from when you first contact us.
