Frequently Asked Questions

We provide free, no-obligation quotes for all of our services.

These quotes are based on the information provided so if you require additional areas or items to be cleaned at your booking please discuss this with your technician.

We provide a professional service with qualified technicians using high quality equipment and products. This does mean that our prices may be higher than budget companies with inferior workmanship and equipment. However, our prices are competitive compared with other reputable companies.
It is important not to base a decision on price alone, as damage resulting from poor quality work done for a small price may actually end up costing you more in the long run! For this reason, we recommend that you phone around for a few quotes, taking into consideration not only price, but also reputation, workmanship and credibility.

Here are some questions that you may find helpful when looking for a professional carpet cleaner:

– Are your technicians qualified?
– Are you a member of any associations?
– Do you have comprehensive insurance cover?
– Do you have independent customer reviews?

If you require a booking on a certain day or time, then we recommend that you give us as much notice as possible so we can secure your booking and avoid disappointment. However, we do pride ourselves on our customer service and will always aim to find a booking time that suits you.

This does depend on access, size and scope of cleaning and also the amount of soiling and stain treatment required. However, an average three bedroom house with easy access typically takes around an hour to clean.

Drying time does vary, depending on several factors such as the style and composition of your carpet, weather conditions and how badly soiled your carpets are. For instance, wool carpets are more absorbent and will require a longer drying time than synthetic carpets, and drying time may be prolonged in cold or humid conditions.

For this reason, it is difficult to provide an exact timeframe, but we typically say that your carpet should take anywhere from two to eight hours to dry fully.

You may also assist the drying process up by encouraging air-flow or running a dehumidifier.

We recommend that you have loose items tidied away prior to your booking. Our technicians can move smaller items such as chairs, couches, coffee tables and beds on wheels, but they will not move anything with electrical items, fragile items, or anything too large or heavy for one person to easily move.

Some people do choose to move all of the furniture out of carpeted rooms prior to their booking. If you decide to do this it is very important that you wait until the carpet has dried fully before putting the furniture back. This is particularly the case with heavy items as these can prevent the carpet from drying properly, and wooden or metal items which can leave permanent rust marks if placed back onto damp carpet.

It is important that carpets are vacuumed prior to being cleaned. This is because a thorough vacuum will remove as much solid dirt as possible, allowing for an effective, even clean without the interference of excess dirt.

In fact, this is so important that we include a commercial-grade vacuum as part of our standard service for all residential carpet cleaning bookings, so it is not essential for you to vacuum prior to your booking because we will do this for you.

However, if your carpets are very heavily soiled then you may also want to consider our carpet scrubbing service for best possible results (see more about carpet scrubbing here).

Yes. We pride ourselves on using eco-friendly products wherever possible and all of our standard cleaning solutions are eco-friendly. However, if you require specialist stain treatment there may be some instances where a harsher cleaning solution will achieve a better result. If this is the case, the technician will only use harsher treatments as required, in targeted areas and will not do this without discussing it with you first.

Our technicians do require payment upon completion of the service and we carry mobile eftpos for your convenience. We can accept payment by way of cash, eftpos or major credit cards. Alternatively, if you would like to receive an invoice, please talk to us about setting up an account.

We recommend that you allow proper ventilation while your carpet is drying as this will help to minimise odours and assist with the drying process. If your property must be closed up immediately after cleaning there may be a “damp carpet” odour when you next enter the building. This is just because the odour has had nowhere to go as the carpet has dried and is nothing to be concerned about. Simply encourage airflow and the odour should quickly disappear.

Odours may come from many sources but are typically caused by bacterial growth. This does mean that a thorough steam clean and sanitise will help to remove dirt, kill bacteria and ultimately eliminate odours from the carpet. However, it is important to remember your carpet may only be one cause of the problem.

If you have concerns about odours it is important to consider all affected materials including underlay, curtains and structural materials.

For instance, in a house with cigarette odours it would be important to have all carpets and curtains professionally cleaned as well as thoroughly wiping down and sanitising all surfaces (cigarette smoke can also permeate into wallpaper and paint). On the other hand, if you have odours from pet soiling it may also be necessary to lift the carpet and treat or replace the underlay in certain areas.

If you have concerns about odours please mention this when you make your booking.

We would recommend steam cleaning with eco friendly products for any households where occupants have allergies or asthma. This is because the steam cleaning process provides the most thorough clean and also extracts the dirt particles, allergens and any residues so they can be effectively removed from the carpet.

We also offer a carpet scrubbing service which works well in conjunction with steam cleaning. Carpet scrubbing involves a large soft bristled brush that helps to release dirt particles, allergens and pet dander, bringing them to the surface of the carpet. The technician then vacuums the dry dirt with a commercial grade vacuum cleaner prior to steam cleaning. This allows the most thorough steam clean of the carpet fibers without the interference of trapped dirt. We highly recommend carpet scrubbing for anyone with concerns about allergies or households with four legged family members.

It is important that any sort of flooding is treated promptly by a professional. Water can travel great distances throughout structural materials and create small pockets of moisture in areas not visible to the eye. If left untreated these areas can harbour bacterial growth and cause permanent structural damage.

We have technicians’ on-call 24/7 for emergency flood call-outs and will aim to be at your address within 90 minutes – phone Elite Carpet Cleaning now on 0800 438 354
